Super Bowl Party Ideas - Decorating Your Home

Decorating your home for a party is lots of fun, and a Super Bowl party is no different.  It's also a great way to get your children involved in the party planning.  Here are a few kid friendly ideas that will make your home fun and festive -
  • Take advantage of the crafts your children have made (such as those in this post).  They'll love contributing to the decor, it will look cute, and it's inexpensive!
  • Display any football memorabilia that your family has - jerseys, photographs, posters, etc.
  • Pick up inexpensive (disposable) football themed plates and platters at a discount or party supply store.  They'll fit perfectly with your theme and cut down on clean up.
  • Buy a small piece of Astroturf at a hardware store.  Cut it to fit into trays or use it as a tablecloth on the food table.
  • Fill an apothecary jar with mini footballs (these also make great children's favors at the end of the party).
  • Hang streamers and balloons in your favorite team's colors.

Super Bowl Party Ideas - Crafts and Games

We've already given you tips and recipes for a family friendly Super Bowl party.  Today we're sharing fun games and crafts that are Super Bowl related - they're perfect for keeping your children occupied during the game or for doing at a different time.

Crafts
  • Play Dough is always a hit with children.  To make it Super Bowl themed, have your children create a Superbowl field.  Use green Play Dough for the turf, gray to make a goal post, white to create lines on the field, etc.
  • Make pom poms in your favorite team's colors.
  • Print off coloring pages for your children to color and embellish.
  • These football windsocks are really cute and would also be a great decoration.
  • Make a football paper chain - use brown construction paper and white crayons to decorate each link like a football.  Then glue them together as you normally would.

Superbowl Party Ideas for the Whole Family

It's almost Super Bowl time!  If you have children, you may assume that they'll be bored to tears during the Super Bowl.  But, it doesn't have to be that way.  Over the next few days we'll be sharing fun ideas that will help your whole family enjoy the Super Bowl.

Miscellaneous Tips and Ideas
  • Often times the Super Bowl half time show isn't appropriate for children.  Be prepared with a movie or craft to keep your children occupied during that time.
  • These football shirts are adorable and easy to make - perfect for game day.
  • If you're having guests, designate a room in your home for sleeping children.  Most children won't make it through the entire game, so having somewhere quiet they can sleep will be a lifesaver for parents.
Food Suggestions
  • Chocolate Covered Strawberry Footballs.
  • Chicken tenders (we know wings are the traditional Superbowl food, but tenders are way easier with kids!)
  • If you want to get really creative, this Snackadium is a really cool option.  Your kids (and all the adults) would love it!
  • Superbowl Cupcakes.
  • Pigs in a Blanket.
  • Chips and dip (salsa, ranch dip, spinach dip, bean dip - anything your family likes).
  • Veggie tray.

Decorating Ideas - Elephant Nursery

Yesterday we shared a selection of our elephant themed products.  There are many cute choices out there, and any of them would make wonderful inspiration pieces for an elephant themed nursery.  Here are a few decorating ideas -
  • Start by choosing a color scheme.  As you can tell from this post, elephant items are available in a variety of colors and styles.
  • Once you've chosen your colors, it's time to select furniture.  If you're going for a cutesy look, pretty much any style of furniture will work.  However, if you prefer a more modern style, stick with clean lines and simple finishes.
  • Choose accessories that coordinate with the elephant theme and suit your chosen style.  You can never go wrong with soft rugs, fluffy pillows, and customized pieces.
  • Add a dramatic focal point to the room by painting a mural on one wall.
  • Create a custom lampshade by stenciling elephants onto a plain lampshade.  If you want a frillier/more cutesy look, add trim or ribbon to the edges.
